Got this from Deya's Soapbox and I think it's pretty cool especially when I am in this sentimental mood during Raya, so I decided to answer the questions below too...
RAYA SURVEY!!
Favourite kuih raya?
Biskut ganja....hehe...actually it's that fried mini popiah with serunding as the inti...but me and my family called it biskut ganja coz my auntie make it super delicious and she made her own serunding ikan which is also so sedap that everyone cannot stop eating it...I warn you it's very addictive, juz like ganja.
Favourite raya food?
My late grandma's kuah kacang...very high in demand, the kuah will finish in lesss than half a day of the first raya, and also her rendang Minang and of course...having that Johor breed, I'll definitely vote for lontong!
Favourite bunga api/mercun?
It's been ages since I played bunga api but I really like the one that spins and produce colorful sparks.
Favourite raya activity(s)?
Eating and getting duit raya...hehe...and yeah I like it when the convoi from sembahyang raya came to my Atok's house...it just felt good that people come to your house to celebrate Raya
Which one do you prefer? Father's kampung/Mother's kampung/Ur house to celebrate raya?
Of course both Father's and Mother's...and since both kampung is only like 20-30 mins away (one in Sepang and one near Kolej Tunku Jaafar)...there's no problem celebrating first day of Raya at both kampung. But it's tradition to go to Mama's kampung first then go to Babah's kampung later at noon.
Which raya dish do you know how to prepare?
None....hahaha....actually like Deya, I sumtimes help preparing roti jala but there're too many hands in the kitchen I ended up helping to kacau the rendang only
Favourite Raya's eve activity?
Changing curtains, cleaning up the house and stay up till late nite and watch TV
Ideal open house?
Hmm.....none in particular as long as the house as good food.
Favourite juadah buka?
Mama's mee hailam! Ahh....so sedap!
Favourite lagu raya?
Suara Takbir - Siti, Lebaran Ini - Raihan, Nowseeheart, Rem, Ajai and all time favorite Pulanglah - Aishah.
Favourite pasar ramadhan?
None...the food is really expensive it's better to cook.
Average number of kad raya received every year?
Now that I am in the States, I don't receive cards anymore *sob*sob*
Where is your kampung?
Jenderam, Sepang and Beranang, Negeri Sembilan.....Both sides of my family are Minang, originated from Padang, Indonesia(not Minang Negeri Sembilan so all that adat perpatih do not apply to us) and I am proud to be one too!
Whats the first thing that comes to your mind when people mention Ramadhan?
Puasa, terawikh, getting to eat together with the whole family
Whats the first thing that comes to your mind when people mention Raya?
Balik kampung!! Masak rendang and ketupat!! Last time when my late grandma was alive, I was excited to help her cook lemang too but now no one know how to cook lemang. And oh yeah, since I am in Madison first time come to mind is how I wish I was at home instead of here.
Where will you be this Hari Raya?
Madison, Wisconsin. Be going to Chicago this Friday for a Thanksgiving and raya holiday, yay!
