I was knocked down by a car today. I'm surprised I'm still alive, though I have bruises on my leg. Stupid and curse to that woman talking on the phone and not looking while driving. Portugal won and secured a place in final round of Euro 2004. No kidding. That pretty much sums up my life for today.

Love is an unconditional word. "I love you" has a latent meaning that can only be spoken to the right person at the right time. In his book 'A Lover's Discourse', Roland Barthes argues that I-love-you is a socially irresponsible word. Love and "I love you" can both contain good and bad semantics. It may signify transcendence or insignificance, and tenderness or lust. Therefore, love is something that stands outside the language. The accurate concept of love can never be understood. I am still searching for what lies beyond the word "I love you". I believe what is defined above is not satisfying enough but for the time being, my judgement remains the same. Love is, torn between action and statement.

************************************************

I was grateful, and I still am, for those times I spent with him, I learned a lot about people, about life. He often said to me that life is like a wheel, it has its ups and downs. In whatever I do, he told me to be patient and not to give up. He taught me the variety colors of people, and when to give and take. He taught me how to laugh, how to feel happy and how to feel sad.

THE END.

Fuhh...what a long football game today. Choosing which team to support is surely difficult since both England and Portugal have great football players. With Rooney out of the game during the first half, England seems to lose their sparks in the game and keep wasting ball across the field. Portugal is definitely more interesting to watch. They, after all, have more posession of the ball.

After middle of the game, I favor the Portuguese(but still hoping Owen can do his magic). But I was fuming mad when Figo(my hero!) was called off field and was replaced by Postiga. Nasib baik larr Postiga managed to score the first goal. I guess it was all tactic and pressure on Figo for his golden moment that result to the substitution. But if Rooney and Figo played till the end, I bet it would have been more entertaining.

Penalty was surely depressing. Beckham failed his penalty. Again! It must be a depressing moment for him (or a chance for him to get all the attention by the press). A miss from Vassell confirmed that England will have to say goodbye. Rivaldo completed the winning-kick, placing a spot for Portugal in the semifinal. Phew... Portugal cho habis!

I already placed an order for an England shirt. I should probably check out that Figo jersey too...hehe.

I need a few more days of break. I have been working so much that I have to drop one summer class and I am tired to even think what to put down on this blog. Plus, I am having my first exam this Thursday and a new project assignment coming up. Gimme a few more days before I gain my thoughts and my strength back...

Brad Pitt is hot. Ashton Kutcher is hunklicious. And I need to do some transformations about myself. This is ridiculous but I'm a little jaded for the moment. That's all I have to say. Thank you and goodbye.

It is heart-shattering to watch the anticipated England vs France match in Euro 2004 today. Despite the fact that I am not a number one supporter for England, I do favor them to win this match. It was a sure win for England until the last 7 minutes. England was leading 1-0 after Lampard headed the ball from Beckham's free kick and the way England lined their defense, I was pretty damn sure they were gonna win eventhough England could have done better if Beckham did not miss his penalty kick. A foul by Heskey awarded France a free kick and another foul by goalkeeper James awarded them with a penalty kick. Given the fact that both kicks were taken by the world's most valuable player, Zinedine Zidane, France won the game 2-1. And both goals were scored during injury time! And coincidentally, both fouls were caused by Liverpool players. Stupid Liverpools! But I gotta say, that free kick from Zidane that awarded France their first goal, phew.... that was a really beautiful one! No argue there that Zidane is indeed the world player of the year. Next to look forward to, Italy vs Denmark tomorrow. Vive O 2004!

Hmmm... it's been a week since I've last blog. The reason for it is that I somehow has lost interest surfing the Internet. All I do is check my emails and football/soccer updates. So, this is a bit of this and that I've been doing for the past few days. Most of the day I spent working at the library and at the cafetaria. My friends and I went to the mall on Saturday and celebrated BC's 21st birthday last Sunday at Nitty Gritty birthday bar. It was fun since it has been a long time since I hang out with these people. Yesterday, BC and I decided to pamper ourselves at the salon. We took a Pamper package for just $28 for shampoo and style, facial, scalp treatment, manicure and makeup. It was a pretty good deal. We spent four hours at the salon. Then we hit State Street, get ice cream at Coldstone(it was so GOOD!) and had my dinner at Potbelly Sandwich. I am telling you, if you go to Coldstone, do try Monkey Bite! This ice cream is heaven.

I spent most of my nights watching DVDs, especially foreign DVDs. Below are some of those that I've watched:

(a) Life Is Beautiful (La Vita E Bella) - In Italy in the year 1930s, a carefree and funny Jewish man courted and married a woman whom he always called "principessa". They soon had a son and lived happily until the occupation of German troops. They were taken to a concentration camp on their son's birthday. In attempt to protect his son from the ruthless camp, the father convinced his young son that the camp is a contest to win a tank. The mother and the son survived until the war ended but the father was shot by the Nazis in order to help his son live.

(b) Moonlight Express - Starring late Leslie Cheung and Takako Tokiwa, this Japanese + Cantonese movie delights me to the very end. Hitomi lost her fiance Tatsuya(works and resides in Hong Kong) in a car accident a day before their wedding. Still haunted by her fiance memories and promises to bring her to HK, she decided to make a trip to see HK herself. There, she ran into an undercover cop, Karbo, who has been framed by his partner and who looks exactly like Tatsuya. Karbo seeks refuge at her place and soon find themselves attracted to each other. This is a action + romantic drama you don't want to miss.

(c) The Legend of Suriyothai - This movie is a true story based on the 16th century Thai Queen Suriyothai. It is the time where the region of Ayothaya and and Siam cannot avoid royal blunders. The story continues with successions of kings and adulterous scandals of Srisudachan which poisoned her respected husband in order to let her lover become the king of Ayothaya. Suriyothai, queen of Siam and her wise husband Prince Tien decided for a revenge to overthrow the evil Srisudachan and her lover. In 1548, Burmese invaded and threatened to take over Ayothaya. Suriyothai rode down the warfield in order to protect her husband and Ayothaya and was killed in the battle. The plot may be confusing at times, yet still stunning and absorbing. Definitely something new than the usual American epics we watch.

(d) Belle Epoque - Spanish movie that is a bit slow in development, but most European movies are. Some say it's funny, some say it's romantic. I see it as a plain drama where an old artist gives a shelter to a man from the royalist army. This young man are attracted to the artist's four beautiful daughters and decided to stay a little longer. Odd enough, he was involved with confusing relationships with all the three elder daughters who each takes turn seducing him before finally realizing that he actually like the youngest, acted by Penelope Cruz. Strange for me, but still watchable.

I've also watched All About My Mother (Todo Sobre Mi Madre), the Spanish movie who claimed Best Foreign Movie at Academy Award. However, I don't particularly like this movie since the story is too odd for me to digest. Sex, AIDS, drag queens. Well, particularly not my area of interest. But it has been a refreshing week, watching foreign movies certainly gives me new atmosphere about films. Everyone else should try. It's a way to run from the sometimes cliche Hollywood movies.

Nothing interesting happens in the past few days. Except that I tripped and fell yesterday on my home from work. So, now I have a very big tear on my favorite green pants from Urban and a pretty bad cut on my knee. Darn, that pants is expensive I feel so bengang. On a lighter note, I have put up links on the entertain section to Mudd's songs and Sad Angry Babies. But there's still a problem to the songs on my internal link that I am trying very hard to fix. In the meantime, just enjoy the songs from those peeps in UIUC okies. Outta here people, gotta mend this cut on my knee.
