Anybody currently looking for a job? My team is hiring an Analyst-Data Services for a contract position for one year, convertible to permanent after end of contract based on performance. The company is Watson Wyatt, a global HR consulting company. Our team is responsible of conducting salary and club surveys, and we are kicking in towards the start of our annual rewards survey. This year is going to be an exciting but very busy year as we have won a lot of projects so if anyone is interested, buzz me ya. The position will start in July.

I am back from my vacation trip a few hours ago. To date, I considered this trip as the worst vacation I ever had because I was sick throughout the entire Saturday till today.

I avoided going to Johor all this time because of exactly the reason above. In fact I skipped all my cousins wedding and dare not to go there for so many years already. Stepping my foot in Johor equals me getting sick. However, this time around, I had no choice but to stopover at my aunt's place for a one night stay before commencing to Singapore on Sunday morning. I thought this time it'll be okay since it's been so many years. Dead wrong. The "evil" curse remains unchanged. On Saturday night, I was having a high fever with a bad cough.

No matter how many Panadols I have swallowed, the fever won't go away. It followed me throughout my entire stay in Singapore. I have to basically force myself to travel around the island since my family and I were already there. My body was burning, my head was spinning and my legs hurt like crazy that I have stop and sit every 10 mins. The musical fountain at Sentosa was entertaining but I wasn't amused because my mood was spoiled. Food tasted like garbage and I could only eat a spoonful. I went to Orchard Road and walked around aimlessly at all the malls for 4 hours but ended up buying nothing. In the end, I only spent around RM100 or so.

I'm feeling much better now that I am back at home but still recovering. Eventhough I was sick and not enjoying my holiday that much, I still have a few good things I can say about Singapore. The island is very clean and very organized. Due to its small size, everything is pretty much concentrated at the central, which is easily accessible via the MRT. I like the fact that they plant all the big trees along Orchard Road and build seats underneath the tree so that people who are sick (like me!), whose feet are hurting or who simply need a break can sit and relax without having to worry about Mr. Sunlight. Restaurants of every kind are abundant but only the mamaks and the minangs ones are halal. You can shop practically everywhere in the Central, be it at Orchard or at Bugis or at the Quay, as long as you know what you're looking for. The MRT system is also better than KL. The map is easier to read. You don't need to exit and pay again if you need a transfer.

Despite all these, the place doesn't hold a special attraction to me. I feel KL is much much better. Mostly because Singapore has nothing unique that caught my attention. Orchard is supposed to be a shopping heaven, but most of what can be found there can also be found here. Hence there is no need to shop because the price is about the same anyway (with exception CDs maybe). The places one can go visit is really not that much. Once you go, that's it. I don't feel the desire to go again. Culture wise, close to nothing. Except the fact that Singapore is much more cleaner and much more organized, it is pretty much the same as KL. Well, that is my two cents thoughts. When I visit one country, I want to see differences that the country can offer, not how many shopping bags I can bring home. I can do easily do that if I'm in NYC. Hehe... Below is the places that I have visited outside Malaysia ranked according to my satisfactory meter.

1. Paris
2. Tokyo and Yokohama
3. Boston
4. Yellowstone
5. Amsterdam
6. Melbourne
7. New York
8. Bali
9. England and Bath
10. Phuket
11. Singapore
12. Minnesota
13. Purdue

I wisht to travel to Europe again. Happy Labor Day everyone!
